Riot Games Addresses Possibility of Agent Bans in VALORANT

Last Updated on March 24, 2025

As VALORANT’s agent roster expands, players are beginning to question whether a ban system could be introduced to keep the game balanced.

While banning agents could add strategic depth and prevent one-trick playstyles, Riot Games doesn’t see it as necessary—at least for now.

During a press conference, John Goscicki, VALORANT’s Agent Lead, stated that Riot is closely monitoring the growing agent pool.

However, he emphasized that their release schedule is already designed to prevent an overwhelming meta.

Instead of frequent new releases, Riot takes inspiration from existing agents, ensuring that each addition fits within the game’s ecosystem.

While a ban system isn’t on the immediate horizon, Goscicki hinted that it could be considered in the future if the roster grows too large.

For now, Riot remains confident in its current balancing methods, keeping agent diversity under control.
