Why is it Important to Know How Long a Valorant Game Is?
Think of it as not wanting to be stuck in a game mode that you don’t like. With the new Team Deathmatch, there is also a new game mode in Valorant to note how long it takes to play. It’s also worth noting that you might have other things to prioritize. So, you undoubtedly won’t like it when you can’t get out of overtime in a ranked game.
Currently, the game modes in Valorant are Unrated, Competitive, Swift Play, Spike Rush, Deathmatch, Escalation, Team Deathmatch, and Custom Games. They also have different game lengths and objectives that can take time and effort. So, you might want to play something that ends quickly if you have errands to run.

Unrated
Unranked play is the most common game in Valorant. It takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on how fast you can end each round. The objectives are also simple because all you have to do is plant the Spike or eliminate all enemies.Â
Each round has 1 minute and 40 seconds with the Spike timer at 40 seconds. The buy phase also has 30 seconds, which means the maximum round length is 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
Competitive Games in Valorant
Although Competitive queues have the same game length as Unrated, they could possibly last longer. The average game length for competitive queues in Valorant is around 40-50 minutes. The longest you can play is around 1 hour and 20 minutes if you end up playing in Overtime.
Overtime happens when you and the enemy team have a 12-12 scoreline. After all, the goal is first to 13 rounds. However, you must be ahead by two rounds to win a match. So, a competitive game will take longer in Valorant.
Swift Play
This game mode is a faster version of Unrated. Each match can also last up to 10-20 minutes, depending if you can end it fast enough. After all, you are given more in-game creds to buy better weapons.
Spike Rush
Spike Rush is like Swift Play but much faster. The objective is also to plant the Spike as fast as possible. The average game time is around 8-15 minutes because of all the extra features in the game mode. Undoubtedly, it doesn’t take that long to play this game in Valorant.
Deathmatch
You should always enter this game mode at least once during your sessions before playing Unrated or Competitive queues. It’s undoubtedly the best way to warm up, allowing you to get a feel for the game. All you have to do is to reach 40 kills before every other player, but each game also has a 9-minute timer.
Escalation
Escalation is a fun game mode to play in Valorant. It’s a 5v5 battle with constantly changing weapons, depending on how many frags you’ve made. The first team to pass 12 levels after 10 minutes wins. However, it can be faster if you dominate the game.

Team Deathmatch
This is the latest game mode that pits you in a 5v5 with the objective of achieving 100 kills before the enemy team. However, it can last 9 minutes, with the highest-scoring team winning. It’s also an exciting new game mode that you have to try in Valorant.
Custom Games in Valorant
Custom games last however long you want because it depends on you. It’s mostly for practicing lineups or discovering bugs in the game. So, you can take your time without any pressure of Riot penalizing you for disconnecting.
So, now that you know how long a game is in Valorant, you can choose which game mode to play. You should also take note of how long a game is in the different modes so you can plan ahead. See you on the battlefield, agent.
