Video Game Crossovers That Should Exist

Last Updated on April 19, 2023

One of the most exciting aspects of gaming is the potential for Video Game Crossovers. A world where characters from different games come together in unexpected ways is an exciting prospect for fans.

Whether it’s Mario and Sonic competing in the same game, or Ryu and Kazuya throwing down in a fighting game. Crossovers are a thrilling way to explore gameplay mechanics and see our favorite characters interact in new and interesting ways.

In this article, we’ll explore some video game crossovers that we think should exist. For your leisure, imagine what these epic mashups could look like. Fire Emblem x Pokemon

Video Game Crossover Fire Emblem

I know that this idea is a little far-fetched but hear me out. Both the Fire Emblem and Pokemon franchises are currently Nintendo exclusives. Additionally, both share a little similarity in terms of combat (minus the moves).

Before rolling your eyes at this, imagine if our favorite Fire Emblem characters each had a partner Pokemon. In theory, the combat would work the same way it would on the original Fire Emblem mechanic. Instead of your characters fighting on their own, each of them has a Pokemon battling with them.

Another interesting mechanic of this mashup would be your Pokemon will evolve when you upgrade the character’s class. Moreover, the relationship between the character and their partner Pokemon will be interesting to see. Just imagine Marth having Aegislash as his partner, now that sounds awesome. It’s a little far-fetched, but I would buy this game in an instant.

Sonic the Hedgehog x Mega Man

Video Game Crossover Sonic and Mega Man

Two classic platforming franchises could join forces. Its crossover combines the speed and agility of Sonic with the precision and strategic combat of Mega Man. Players could switch between the two characters to take on challenging levels and bosses in a retro-style adventure.

The Sonic x Mega Man crossover could revitalize the two franchises with a rich history. Additionally, it would be fun if they developed it in a retro-style game. This would give their loyal fans an epic mashup that pays homage to its roots. I would love to see this game in a classic Mega Man type of game.

Successful Video Game Crossovers

Marvel vs. Capcom

Marvel vs Capcom Gameplay

Marvel vs. Capcom is a popular fighting game franchise that has captured the hearts of fans for decades. The series features characters from both Marvel Comics and Capcom’s video game franchises, all battling it out in action-packed fights.

The first game in the series released in 1997 was Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. The early games introduced innovative gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to switch between characters mid-fight and perform devastating team-up moves.

Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Gameplay

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featured a massive roster of characters from various Nintendo video game franchises. It came out on the Nintendo Switch in 2018 and became one of the most beloved games on the console.

One of its main appeals is its massive roster of characters. The game includes over 80 fighters, each with its unique moves, abilities, and playstyles. The game is praised by critics and fans alike for its polished gameplay, impressive roster, and overall fun factor.
