Stinger Nerf Finally Arrives in VALORANT Upcoming Patch

Last Updated on May 29, 2023

The Stinger Nerf arrives and all of us Stinger abusers have to say goodbye. Some players and fans have voiced their complaints about the rise of a certain sub-machine gun. It took over ranked queues as a deadly eco-round solution.

VALORANT Stinger Nerf is well, due for a long time. How many times did you see the enemy team roll you over with SMGs that cost 950 credits? Even though I abused it, we can all agree that gun is unfair.

The weapon rose to popularity following Patch 5.06 after the developers buffed the weapon. They lowered the firing error rate for both primary and secondary fires.

It helped Stinger users control its recoil much more easily than before while remaining one of the most effective weapons to buy thanks to its low price point.

The Upcoming Patch Stinger Nerf is already announced by Riot itself through its official Twitter account.

“After a few weeks of tracking, we’re upping the cost of the Stinger and adjusting the damage fall-off in time for Patch 6.02. We feel the Stinger is over-performing at its price point, especially in the early rounds, and lacks the right economic tradeoffs.”

As for the nerf itself, we do not have to guess any longer as Riot replied to its tweet with the upcoming change to the eco-saving sub-machine gun.

The Stinger Nerf Changes

The Stinger changes for Patch 6.02 are as follows:

  • Cost increased 950 >>> 1100
  • Damage Fall-off Change:
    • 27 damage per bullet (0 – 15m)
    • 23 damage per bullet (15m+)
  • Previously:
    • 27 damage per bullet (0 – 20m)
    • 25 damage per bullet (20m+)

Overall, the Stinger will be less effective in multiple instances, which should lead to a decrease in its usage in both professional play and solo queues alike.

Currently, the Stinger has been the third-most equipped weapon in the 2023 VCT North American Challengers, right behind the Vandal and Phantom, according to VALORANT stats aggregate THESPIKE.gg.

These changes will be heading to live servers in a few days when Patch 6.02 drops on Tuesday, February 7.
