G2 Esports Locks In Caps With Long-Term Contract Extension

Last Updated on April 21, 2025

G2 Esports has secured its star mid-laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther through 2027, ensuring the face of their League of Legends team remains at the core of their roster. The Danish player, often called the “European Faker,” joined G2 in 2018 and has since become the most decorated competitor in LEC history with 12 regional titles.

The extension comes as G2 rebuilds for future success after mixed international results. While the team fell short in recent World Championships, they currently lead the 2025 LEC Spring Split with a perfect record. Caps was the only G2 player whose contract expired this year, making his renewal a priority for the organization.

With G2 celebrating its 10th anniversary and pushing into new titles after a fresh round of funding, extending Caps’ contract signals a strong start to the org’s next chapter in esports.
