Why You Should Always Have Steel-Type Pokemon

Last Updated on May 1, 2023

Steel-Type Pokemon may not be the most glamorous of types, but they are certainly one of the most useful. They have a reputation for being slow and bulky, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pack a punch. In fact, they are an essential addition to any team. The addition of Steel-Type can only make your team better and here’s why:

They Have High Defense and Special Defense

Steel-type Pokemon have the highest average Defense and special defense stats of any type in the game. This makes them ideal for taking hits and surviving longer in battles. Plus, they can learn moves that boost their defense even further, making them even more formidable.

The infamous Ferrothorn is part of the Steel-Type family, and it is best used as a tank/staller. Sporting high defense and special defense, Steel-Types are a thorn in your enemies’ side.

Steel-type Pokemon Are Immune to Poison

Pure steel-type Pokemon have immunity to poison-type moves, which is a huge advantage in battles. This means that they can’t be poisoned, which can be a big problem for other types. Poison is a status effect that can slowly drain a Pokemon’s health, and if left unchecked, it can be fatal.

With a steel-type on your team, you don’t have to worry about poison at all. The only way that a Steel-Type can be poisoned is if the Pokemon who poisoned you has the ability, Corrosion.

They Are Natural Counters To Fairy Types

With the introduction of Fairy-Types to counter the previous OP Dragon Type, Steel-Types are one of its few weaknesses. Fairy-types only have a few weaknesses so having a Steel-Type can protect the Dragon-Types in your team.

Since most people take advantage of Fairy Types, ensuring that you have a counter to it is helpful in battles.

Steel-type Pokemon Have Few Weaknesses

Steel-type Pokemon are only weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves. This means that they have fewer weaknesses than most other types. Additionally, they can resist a range of types, including Normal, Flying, Rock, and Psychic. This makes them incredibly versatile and able to take on a range of opponents.

They Are Great for Double Battles

Steel-type Pokemon are great for double battles, as they can provide excellent support for their partners. They can use moves like Wide Guard and Ally Switch to protect their teammates and shift the focus of the battle. Plus, they can also deal damage to multiple opponents with moves like Gyro Ball and Flash Cannon.

Steel-type Pokemon are a must-have for any trainer looking to build a strong and versatile team. They have tankiness, are immune to poison, are a great defensive type, have few weaknesses, and are great for double battles.

With all these advantages, it’s easy to see why Steel-type Pokemon are such an important part of the Pokemon universe. So, next time you’re building a team, don’t forget to include a Steel type!
