PS5 Discord Integration has long been among the most-requested features fans want for the PlayStation 5 to introduce. Well, the time for wishing is done. The feature is now here and PlayStation gamers cannot be any happier.

Discord Voice Chat is a feature of the Discord app that allows users to communicate with each other in real-time using their voices. It is a popular way for gamers to feel interconnected while playing games. It allows them to coordinate their strategies and talk about the game without having to type, making life much easier.

While many see Discord as exclusively made for gamers, it isn’t. In fact, the Discord app is now most probably used by non-gamers nowadays. It is used by other groups, such as students, coworkers, and friends, to communicate with each other more effectively and in a streamlined fashion.

That said, what it provides in the gaming space with its Discord voice chat feature is just unmatched. It firmly cements its place as the most sought-after, and perhaps best, social application for gamers worldwide.

How to Connect Discord to Your PS5

PS5 Discord Integration How to

To use PS5 Discord Integration, you must first need to have an existing Discord account on top of your PlayStation Network account. Next, you have to make sure that you update your PS5 to the latest version. With all that done, users would then need to link their Discord account to their PlayStation one.

Open the Discord app on the device of your choosing. After that, click on the user settings icon on the bottom left corner of your screen (it is the gear icon). Now, click on “Connections” and then the PlayStation icon. Discord should now show you a series of instructions that you would need to follow to finally connect your Discord account to your PlayStation Network account.

After linking your account, you may now join Discord voice chats while playing games on your PS5 console. To do this, you simply need to open the Discord app. Use Discord on a separate mobile device or computer and join voice chat as you normally would using them. Discord will then automatically transfer the ongoing voice chat to your PS5.

To use Discord Voice Chat, users first need to create an account and then join a server. Once they are on a server, they can click on the “Voice Chat” button to join a voice channel. Voice channels are designated areas where users can talk to each other. Users can also mute themselves or other users if they do not want to hear them.

Noteworthy Tips When Using PS5 Discord Integration

Discord Voice Chat is a free service and it is available on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. It is a popular way to communicate with others and it is a great way to stay connected with friends and family.

While Playing on your PS5, you can use your controller’s built-in microphone to chat with your friends. However, it is highly recommended that you use a headset instead. While the microphone on the DualSense controller is impressive in its own right, it cannot filter out other sounds. Only use it when you are absolutely alone or in a very quiet room.

Notably, you can even adjust the volume of Discord voice chat using the volume controls on your console or directly on the Discord app. If you want, you can even mute yourself or other players using the mute buttons on either the app or the controller itself.

Underlying Issues

As wonderful of news as it is to now finally have Discord on PlayStation 5, it is not without issues and underlying problems. For one, it is not a native integration. This means that you still need to use a separate device to take advantage of the feature. On top of that, you won’t be able to see any Discord notifications on your PS5 or even use the app’s overlay while you play your games.

Next is that the feature is still not available in all countries. Lucky those that live in countries where the feature is now ongoing, but sorry for those that aren’t. While Sony is now looking into expanding the feature to more countries sooner rather than later, it just feels a bit sad that not everyone will be able to use it right off the bat.

Lastly, there already have been reports of some bugs and glitches with the PS5 Discord Integration. This is to be expected with any new feature, but it is something to be aware of.
