The voodoo doll tool came as part of the game’s 0.2.0 version release. Much like the tarot cards and Ouija boards, this tool gives players the chance to fight back. Instead of just hoping to survive, such tools give players the ability to stand their ground. You can use the doll to incite activity from the haunting entity. This will ultimately help you identify it much faster. And the sooner you identify it, the sooner you get to exorcise it as well.
That said, haphazard use of the doll can lead to the whole mission falling apart. After all, using the tool is practically provoking the entity itself! Expect adverse reactions from the enemy whenever you use the doll. That is why it is crucial to fully understand how the tool works and the things you can do to protect yourself from its possible negative effects.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll in Demonologist?
You can find the voodoo doll in the game’s shop menu and purchase it as part of your loadout. Like any other tool, players need to equip the Demonologist voodoo doll to use in a match. With it equipped, use the left-click to directly interact with the doll. Doing so will put a nail into the doll even further in. This then results in the corresponding entity reacting adversely. Hurting the doll means hurting the entity as well.
The game enables you to do this even up to the final nail in the doll. However, you should remember that its effects are randomized. While the first few clicks may go with you, the next ones may spell your demise. Therefore, we advise that you do not push too many nails into the doll as such could result in an instant Haunt. And believe us, you wouldn’t want that.
Protecting Yourself from the Negative Effects
As beneficial as using the voodoo doll may be, it can be as dangerous as the entity itself. In the instance that you found yourself triggering an instant haunt, you better know how to counter it.Â
We cannot stress this enough but always pair the doll tool with a Crucifix. The Crucifix will serve as your failsafe the moment the use of the voodoo doll turns adversely. After triggering an instant haunt, immediately equip the Crucifix. Doing so will destroy it but will ultimately protect you from the haunt itself. Take note that this only works once.
