Catching Sturgeon in Stardew Valley

Location: If you’re on the hunt for Sturgeon in Stardew Valley, head to the Mountain Lake, northeast of the town. This is the exclusive stomping ground of these prized fish.

Season and Weather: Sturgeon can be caught during Summer and Winter, with no weather preferences. However, they are more frequently found during rainy days in the Summer.

Time of Day: Your best chances of encountering Sturgeon are between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Fishing Tips: While not the trickiest catch, leveling up your Fishing skill or using certain tackle items like Trap Bobbers and Cork Bobbers can make the mini-game of fishing much easier. It’s worth noting that a Training Rod cannot catch a Sturgeon.

Building a Fish Pond

For those aspiring to become Caviar tycoons, you’ll need a Fish Pond. Robin, the local carpenter, can construct one for you with the following requirements:

  • 5,000 gold
  • 200 stones
  • Five seaweed
  • Five green algae

Fish Ponds are 5×5 tiles, and Robin takes two days to build them. Once your Fish Pond is ready, you can place your Stardew Valley Sturgeon inside, where they’ll swim around contentedly.

The real magic begins as the fish multiply, up to a maximum of 10 fish per pond. However, they will request items to facilitate further multiplication. For Sturgeon, here’s what they’ll ask for:

  • 1 Sturgeon – 1 Diamond
  • 3 Sturgeon – 1 Jelly (any) OR 1 Pickle (any) OR 2 Maple Syrup
  • 5 Sturgeon – 3 Omni Geodes
  • 7 Sturgeon – 1 Nautilus Shell

Caviar Production by Sturgeons in Stardew Valley

Sturgeon in Stardew Valley Fish Ponds are prized not for their fish but for their Sturgeon Roe. You can transform this valuable Sturgeon Roe into Caviar in a preserve jar. It takes about four in-game days or 6,000 in-game minutes for this magical conversion to occur. Caviar is one of the most valuable possessions in Stardew Valley and in real life.

Caviar, in its basic form, sells for 500g. However, if you have the Artisan profession, it’ll fetch you a higher price of 700g. Beyond selling, you can consume it for 175 energy and 78 health. It’s a universally-liked item, granting you 45 friendship points with every villager, except for Jas, Sebastian, and Vincent.

Community Center and Beyond

Once you’ve completed the Community Center, you’ll have a chance to unlock the Movie Theatre, where Caviar can be donated. It’s one of the possible options for donation, making it a valuable contribution to the community.

If you’re feeling creative, you can also use Caviar in the sewing machine, along with some Cloth, to create the Fashion Hat. A stylish addition to your Stardew Valley wardrobe!

Sturgeon Stardew Valley represents a fascinating and rewarding aspect of the game. It’s not just about catching fish but about creating a thriving ecosystem and a valuable product. Whether you aim to amass wealth through Caviar production or simply enjoy the art of fishing, Sturgeon in Stardew Valley is a delightful pursuit that adds depth to the gaming experience.

Follow this guide, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a Sturgeon and Caviar expert in the world of Stardew Valley. Happy fishing!
