Do you want to start hunting the Assassin’s Creed Origins Phylakes? The Egyptian installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise gives much depth to the lore. Sticking close to real-life events, AC Origins take the player to the Ptolemaic Dynasty.
Historical figures like Julius Caesar and Cleopatra play titular roles similar to actual events. The player takes on the life and times of Bayek Siwa, the titular assassin of the game and its DLCs.
As you play out the storyline, you go through the formulaic sequence of events in modern AC games. You enter a new area, go through missions, help allies, then take out the Templar. Throughout the game, Bayek gains new gear and access to more upgrades and regions. In Alexandria, you take out a Phylakitai that opens up a quest with no time limit.
Gennadios and the Phylakes
In Alexandria, Bayek reconnected with his then-wife, Aya. Together they take out Actaeon and Ktesos of the Ancients. This prompted the Phylakitai Gennadios to scour Alexandria for Aya. Bayek tracks him down to the Akra Garrison where he kills him. In the memory corridor, Gennadios warns Bayek that the Phylakes will hunt him down for killing him.
Completing Gennadios the Phylakitai quest starts the subquest called Phylakes’ Prey. Though not affecting the overall game, strong roaming enemies appear on the map. The Phylakes are denoted by a red helmet with horns on the world map. You are warned if you approach a Phylakes with a sound of a horn.

They are leveled 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, 32, 35, 38, and two-level 40s. A unique trait of both the level 40 Phylakes is that their routes sometimes intersect, meaning you can face both at the same time.
Weapons and Approaches
When you find an Assassin’s Creed Origins Phylakes, the game will alert you far before you can catch their attention. The best approach to fighting any Phylake is on horseback. Running at them with a mounted attack and wearing them down from range is effective. You could do this at lower levels, but it takes a lot of time due to low damage.
If you wish to honor the Phylake, you can engage them in melee combat. The best approach in melee combat is to wait for a perfect chance to parry. Success renders an enemy stunned, allowing you to land a counterattack.
Don’t underestimate them after parrying, because they are all capable of dealing heavy damage. Make sure to dodge and parry their attacks and don’t wear out your shield trying to block everything.
