Ways to Start Your Career in Esports

Ready to Start Your Career in Esports

1. Be a Streamer!

An easy way to get started with establishing your eSports career is to pick a popular game. Then, you start streaming it as an eSports streamer. This job typically involves you live-streaming a game you’re playing competitively through your channel.

From using Twitch to Discord, you’re giving viewers out there a chance to see the competitive side of things. If you got the skills and the brains to dominate your competition, do not be afraid to flaunt them and stream.

The downsides for this job type are that earning will take a while, and earning sponsors’ attention will be challenging since others are out there already. Nonetheless, you never know but you may be the next big thing as a streamer.

2. Know All About Your Chosen Job

As you’re getting started with your eSports career, be familiar with the ins and outs of your selected job. For example, if you are an Esports streamer, know how to get more followers, choose the best streaming platform, and so on.

Another example is if you are going all out as a team member for an established team. You have to know how your manager will do things, get a grip on the way the whole team plays, and do other things that will help you along the way.

3. Hone Your Skills

A lot of the companies hiring in Esports are startups with low budgets. Even the established organizations in the scene might be more conservative with their budget.

Because of this, many esports jobs will require a candidate to juggle multiple roles. There just aren’t enough employees to assign one to each area. If you can get ahead of the game and prepare your skill set for this sort of scenario, then you’ll boost your odds of working in esports.

4. Make the Perfect Resume and Cover Letter

Among such a crowd of talent, you need to make sure that your cover letter and resume leave the best impression possible on an employer.

Try and create a unique and stylish design for your resume, especially if you’re applying for jobs in creative sectors like marketing or graphic design, and pore over it to make sure there are no spelling errors or unnecessary details on there.
