Genshin Impact: New 4-Star Kaveh Guide

Last Updated on May 29, 2023

Kaveh is a 4-star Dendro Claymore character in Genshin Impact that debuted in patch 3.6. He graduated with honors under the Kshahrewar Darshan of the Sumeru Akademiya, earning the moniker “Light of Kshahrewar.”

He’s also the architect behind the Palace of Alcazarzaray, although his magnum opus was also the cause of his fall into debt. Among the community, he’s best known as Alhaitham’s roommate, with whom he bickers a lot.

In this guide, we’ll talk about the best weapons, artifact sets, and team compositions for Kaveh.

Kaveh Gameplay

Kaveh is an on-field driver who excels in triggering Bloom reactions. While he may look and play like a DPS, he focuses on supporting off-field teammates. Players should prioritize Elemental Mastery as the main damage stat to maximize Kaveh’s potential, as he deals significant damage through elemental reactions. This makes him a great teammate for Bloom reaction specialists like Nilou.

However, due to his limited focus on Bloom reactions, you might find his team compositions a tad restrictive. Typically, he will be paired with Hydro and other Dendro characters for maximum effectiveness, but you can also add a third element to spice up your rotations. You can go for a Cryo character like Ganyu or Kamisato Ayaka to enable Fridge strategies, or have Wanderer or Kazuha in your team to weaken enemies against Hydro attacks.

Another thing to remember about Kaveh is his long Burst cooldown. At 20 seconds, with a cost of 80 energy particles, you need to have another Dendro character on the team. This extra Dendro character must have either an Energy Recharge Sands artifact or a Weapon like the Favonius series.

Kaveh Stats

Normal Attack: Schematic Setup

Kaveh executes a four-hit combo with his suitcase and Claymore, with the fourth hit having the longest delay. To increase the speed of your attacks, consider dash-canceling after the third hit. You only want to use Normal Attacks while Kaveh’s Burst is active for consistent Dendro applications.

Elemental Skill: Artistic Ingenuity

“Artistic Ingenuity” has a quick cooldown of six seconds, during which Kaveh inflicts a Dendro damage hit and immediately triggers the explosion of nearby Dendro cores.

While the damage output is not significant, the primary advantage of this skill is the explosion of the Dendro cores. Your focus should not be on damage but rather on Energy Recharge and Elemental Mastery.

Elemental Burst: Painted Dome

“Painted Dome” is a powerful ability that offers several benefits for the energy it cost. Once activated, it lasts for 12 seconds and damages all enemies with Dendro on cast while also infusing Kaveh’s Normal Attacks with Dendro.

Additionally, it immediately detonates all nearby Dendro Cores, increasing the damage dealt by the detonation. This ability also increases the area of effect of Kaveh’s attacks and his interruption resistance, making him a formidable force on the battlefield.

Do remember that this Burst is only active while Kaveh is on the field, so you need to make the most out of it before switching him out.

First Ascension Passive: An Architect’s Undertaking

Kaveh’s first passive ability allows him to recover HP by three times his EM stat every time the explosions of Dendro Cores damage him. This healing effect happens once every half-second. For instance, if Kaveh’s Elemental Mastery is at 800, he will recover 2,400 HP per hit.

This provides a solution to the downside of using a Bloom team: the damage caused by Dendro Core explosions. This effect is also beneficial when Kaveh is in a Burgeon team facing a similar disadvantage.

Fourth Ascension Passive: A Craftsman’s Curious Conceptions

This passive allows Kaveh’s Burst to boost his Elemental Mastery when he lands Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks on enemies. This increase starts at 25 EM per hit and maxes out at 100. It’s particularly beneficial since Elemental Mastery is Kaveh’s primary stat, and it helps offset the need to invest a lot of resources into Energy Recharge.

Passive: The Art of Budgeting

When crafting furniture for your Sereniteapot, Kaveh has the ability to refund a portion of the materials used.

Pros

  • Well-suited for Bloom-focused team compositions.
  • Capable of self-healing to withstand Bloom core explosion damage.
  • Effective in triggering and driving other Dendro reactions.

Cons

  • Limited to the role of main DPS.
  • His Normal and Charged Attacks deal below-average damage.
  • Requires a lot of energy to use.
  • Elemental Infusion ability is only available during his Burst.
  • Can be substituted by other existing Dendro characters.
