Last Updated on May 29, 2023

Frankly speaking, yes. You certainly need the latest, best gaming hardware if you want to play today’s Triple-A games optimally. As gaming graphics become more realistic and impressive, the more demanding the hardware requirements become as well. That is the price of gaming, and, sadly, it doesn’t come cheap. As a PC gamer who wants to keep up-to-date with the latest triple-A releases and play them at their full potential, you better have a beastly gaming setup.

Gaming PCs for Modern Games

Much like console gaming, you must have the latest gaming desktops to play games of today. After all, how could you expect to run new PS5 games on a PS3? The same applies to gaming computers. To play the biggest PC games of 2023, you must have a system capable of doing such.

Today’s optimal gaming PCs utilize high-grade, specialized hardware that enables intermediate 3D-rendering processes. Moreover, they are now often equipped with state-of-the-art components that enable gamers to enjoy truly mesmerizing graphical effects, such as ray tracing.

As Triple-A games continue to push the boundary of graphical fidelity and gaming physics, so too, will graphics cards become more and more powerful. This is the precise reason why you could expect minimum video game specifications to increase every 2 or 3 years. Indeed, it is exciting for the future of gaming. However, those that cannot keep up with the ever-increasing demand for more powerful hardware, unfortunately, have to settle for the older games or, at the very least, the simpler ones.

Graphics Cards and Solid-State Drives

Best Gaming Hardware GPU

The usual suspects for graphics cards nowadays are the AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. Just a few years ago, having either of the two was a luxury. Nowadays, they are the standard to run Triple-A games with respectable frame rates.

You can also expect the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 to make a splash with its integrated AI tech. Better prepare your wallet, though. Graphics cards are notorious for how expensive they are and believe us, the ones mentioned here pack a ton of punch.

Additionally, you also have to be wary of your storage space more than ever. It is normal for today’s games to have at least 100GB. You definitely want to equip yourself with a solid-state drive with at least 1TB of space to ensure that you have enough space to enjoy several games. We recommend going for the WD Black SN850X.

How about hard disks? Throw them out now! HDDs just wouldn’t cut it nowadays.

Can You Still Play Games with a Regular PC?

We understand that not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford today’s best gaming hardware. While having a regular PC, unfortunately, restricts you from playing modern Triple-A games, you certainly can still play a lot of other games with it. If not the classics of yesteryears, perhaps the best Indie titles of today.
