It is common for gamers or fans to have unpopular opinions about a certain game. While some of them serve to promote said game even further, others are just controversial. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) game is one such.
After all, if there is a specific niche within the gaming space to spark countless debates, it is Marvel games. Believe us, there is just no one more passionate than a gamer who happens to be a massive Marvel fan as well.
In this article, we aim to shine a light on the top unpopular opinions we found on Reddit and other internet platforms. We see the point in most of them, but there are some that we just couldn’t bring ourselves to agree on. Without further ado, here are the top unpopular opinions about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game.
It is better than Insomniac Game’s Marvel’s Spider-Man
We love Marvel’s GotG more than the next guy, but we have to disagree with this one. Yes, the game is superb in its own right. There are indeed certain elements in it that are executed better than any Marvel game in existence. For instance, the dialogue and character banter.
However, to claim that it is better than the phenomenal Marvel’s Spider-Man game is just too much for us. Both are great titles, but Insomniac’s Spider-Man is the king of Marvel games so far for us.
The game is better than its MCU film counterpart
It is worth noting that Marvel’s GotG game is entirely different from the MCU films with the same name. The characters may be the same in name and certain quirks, but they are effectively different. That said, as brilliant as James Gunn’s films are, several Reddit users believe that the game managed to tell a more compelling story.
They go as far as stating that the game is better than the films themselves! We can certainly see the point they want to get across. And to be honest, we partially agree with this opinion.
The game could have been better if it was open-world
Marvel’s GotG game is praised for having great pacing. It has no unnecessary extra elements that serve nothing but to elongate the game’s run time. In fact, its linear gameplay fits it perfectly well! Playing the game really feels like playing a movie itself, and that is definitely one of its greatest appeals.
With that in mind, making the game open-world will just dispel everything we praised it for. It will be yet another generic open-world game, just with GotG skin. And with that, we strongly disagree with this take.
It has one of the best soundtracks ever
80s music just holds a special place in our hearts, and we certainly had a lot of it with this game. Blasting away at waves and waves of enemies as Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” blares out or performing a special move while bopping to the tune of Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding out for a Hero” is an experience you wouldn’t want to pass up.
There is literally no other game that enables you to do just that other than Marvel’s GotG. Its wondrous integration of 80s music is just next to none. We agree with this opinion.
Those are just some of the unpopular opinions we encountered regarding Marvel’s GotG game. So, do you agree with them?
