If you are a true Pokemon trainer, you will often wonder who is the best Legendary Pokemon of all time. This very question has always sparked debates within the Pokemon community.
There is a total of 66 Legendary Pokemon so far in the franchise, with at least three introduced in each new generation. These creatures are the most powerful you will find in the games, and they also have some of the most epic designs of all time.
I will base this list on the Legendary Pokemon’s overall power and of course the Best looking Legendary pokemon. Now, I will give you the Top 5 Best Legendary Pokemon of All Time.
5. Kyurem
Game Freak introduced the fusion mechanic in the fifth generation of Pokemon games. While it is not utilized anymore after that, it did lead to the introduction of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.
In its base form, Kyurem is slightly weaker than some of the series’ other Legendary Pokemon owing to its base stat total of 660.
When fused with either Zekrom or Reshiram though, this total rises to 700, making Black and White Kyurem the strongest Pokemon ever at the time of their inception. Having the ability to choose between a physical and a special attacker is also a nice touch and something that players would see again in future generations.
4. Zacian & Zamazenta (Tie)
The two Legendary and heroic dogs of Pokemon Sword and Shield cracks this list. The driving force behind it is that they are one of the most powerful legendaries out there when you equip the right item. Additionally, their designs are the perfect mix of awesome and cute (plus they are the goodest boys).
When both of them hold their respective weapons, Rusty Sword and Rusty Shield, their base stat totals reach 720. Talk about being powerful. Their stat totals rival even the God of Pokemon itself, Arceus.
3. Rayquaza
Pokemon has introduced a ton of dragon-type Legendaries over time. Many of them, like Zekrom and Giratina, became some of the most popular creatures in the franchise. But Rayquaza is the top dragon type for me.
It was the first Pokemon to have the ability to Mega Evolve, as discovered in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and was powerful enough to save humanity by ending the conflict between Groudon and Kyogre, its fellow weather trio Legendaries from the Hoenn region, proving that it reigns supreme.
2. Mewtwo
Aside from having epic powers like telekinesis and mind control, Mewtwo has the coolest backstory of any Pokemon: Mewtwo is a product by scientists who cloned the DNA of Mew following a series of “horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments”. This left it with a vicious nature, and it cares only about defeating its foes.
Mewtwo remains a favorite on the competitive scene, was the first Legendary to appear as a fighter in the Smash Bros series and has two amiibo, truly proving its popularity among fans.
1. Arceus
The supreme God of Pokemon itself, Arceus, is the unbridled Legendary Pokemon. Not only is Arceus the most powerful Pokemon when it comes to regular forms, but the genderless Deity also has the beating of all but six of the Mega Evolutions introduced to the series thus far.
Arceus is a unique Pokemon as it can change its elemental type through the use of special plates, and this makes it incredibly versatile in battle. Its 720 base stat total is also perfectly distributed between the six stat categories. God shows no weakness.
