However, a recent report by Embracer Group suggests that the remake is still in development. Even more, the developers have yet to release any statements. After almost 20 years, we might finally receive the release date for the KOTOR remake in two months.
Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Release Date
Originally, the developers set the Knights of the Old Republic Remake release date in 2022. However, they delayed it to an unspecified date in 2023. Yet, the title experienced another delay as Bloomberg reported the game needs much more work. They also stated that the free-to-play MMORPG could be wishful thinking to release in 2024.
However, the reasons for the KOTOR Remake delays are understandable. After all, the developers must use the latest tech to match the groundbreaking standard for MMORPGs. Bloomberg also reported that the title received delays because it must be of the highest quality.
Even more, there is a section with details for the game’s release and development as of “May 24, 2023”. It also included titles like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, Remnant 2, Tomb Raider, and more.
The report also stated that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake are for the PC and PlayStation 5 platforms. However, an “internal” studio would lead the development of those projects.
Why Are Fans Excited for a Remake?
One of the major reasons why fans want a KOTOR Remake is because the original game is a classic. Since its release in 2003, the title is an absolute commercial success. After all, it also won numerous awards, which include the Game of the Year award from several publications.
