Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the highly-anticipated next entry to the legendary Final Fantasy franchise, revealed at a recent press event that the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 demo will focus on Clive Rosfield’s teenage years. The demo will reportedly last several hours and will give players a glimpse into Clive’s early life, before the events of the main game.
The Final Fantasy 16 Demo: Everything You Need To Know
A word of warning to those that want to experience Final Fantasy 16 as fresh as possible, the demo and this very article may contain slight spoilers for the upcoming game. And with that out of the way, let us begin discussing what the Final Fantasy 16 demo has in store.
As per Yoshida, the demo will see players take control of Clive before his prime years. In it, he trains to become a knight to better protect his father’s kingdom and his younger brother, Joshua, the dominant of the Phoneix Eikon. Players will get to experience some of the major life events that shape Clive’s character. This includes the advent of the Valisthea civil war and the death of his father, the Archduke himself.

Story aspects aside, the demo aims to give players a taste of the fast-paced and action-driven combat system Final Fantasy 16 chose to employ. However, seeing as the demo focuses on Clive’s teenage years, you won’t be able to go all out yet in the demo. It may not fully represent what the main game has to offer combat-wise but it would definitely still be a load of fun.
The Final Fantasy 16 demo release date is yet to be officially announced. Considering that the main game itself is set to release next month, June 22, expect the demo to come in the next few weeks. It will be available for free on PlayStation 5. Lastly, it is worth noting that players can choose to carry over their progress after playing the demo to the main game should they decide to buy it.Â
