5 Anime That Should Be Triple-AAA Games

Last Updated on April 8, 2023

Triple-AAA games are pushing the boundaries in the gaming industry. It’s affected tons of communities, including anime fans. People get so invested in anime characters that, sometimes, finishing their respective anime series just isn’t enough. That is where the anime game genre comes into play. These games allow fans to spend more time with their favorite characters. Moreover, it gives them control, making for a more interactive experience.

That said, despite the ever-growing popularity of anime as a form of media, gamers still believe there is a lack of Triple-AAA games built around it. Most developers tend to commit only low to mid-tier budgets to creating anime games thinking that the audience is already there. In their minds, they just have to pump out a game and let the cash flow in—no matter how mediocre it may be.

Yes, there are the Dragon Ball and the One Piece Triple-AAA games, but such doesn’t seem enough anymore. With the constant wave of great anime series, the demand for more Triple-AAA anime games cannot be any higher. With that in mind, here are 5 anime that we argue should be Triple-AAA games.

Chainsaw Man

Imagine having the chance to stand in the shoes of the Chainsaw Man himself, Denji. Doesn’t it just sound so fun to slice your way through a wave of devils with his trademark insanity? Blood everywhere, adrenaline-inducing rock music in the background—what a fun time! Imagine Devil May Cry but with characters from Chainsaw Man. Now, who wouldn’t want that?

My Hero Academia

True, My Hero Academia already has a couple of games under its belt. However, none of them are fully-fledged Triple-AAA games. How about allowing players to create their characters with his/her quirk? Why not let them interact with Deku and the gang, forming strong bonds and getting more powerful with each other’s help? Now tell us that doesn’t sound like a great game right there.

Cowboy Bebop

Despite already inspiring generations of anime watchers, Cowboy Bebop strangely doesn’t have any recognizable game in its name. We are honestly confused as to how game developers cannot see how awesome it would be to play as a space cowboy. Think along the lines of Mass Effect or Jedi Fallen Order. Playing as Spike Spiegel as you travel the galaxy looking for bounties just feels like a fever dream.

Hunter x Hunter

Much like Cowboy Bebop, we cannot help but think Hunter x Hunter deserves more games under its belt than what is already available. After all, what this excellent anime only got are cheap and very forgettable fighting games. Hunter x Hunter deserves more than that! The series’ Power of Nen and its core friendship theme are very video game adjacent. Game developers need to have the courage to commit significant money and turn this into a Triple-AAA game. Believe us, the audience is already there.

Jujutsu Kaisen

The plot of Jujutsu Kaisen feels tailor-made to become a Triple-AAA game. Each of the characters has unique abilities to play around with and the missions they receive in the anime can easily transition as quests in the game. While some may relegate Jujutsu Kaisen as another anime fighting game, we honestly think it could work as a Triple-AAA action RPG.
