The KJC eSports VALORANT Invitational is our first invite-only tournament with a USD5,000 prize pool. Teams from all over Southeast Asia participated in the event, and it is an officially-approved by Riot Games event. 16 teams went through the Group Stages, and 2 teams, Team Secret from the Philippines and Paper Rex from Singapore, were directly seeded to the Playoffs.

We were the organizer of the tournament, and we did everything from start to finish, which would be the League Operations, Broadcast Solutions and Marketing/Promotion & Assets Production.

League Operations

The registration for the tournament was done manually as it is an invite-only event, and the majority was done via Discord. Our team has spent a lot of time to build connections & relationships with the teams of all tiers from Southeast Asia, which has lead to us being able to kindly ask for their participation to our tournament.

Our team has made the guidelines, event rundown and rulebook, and we have also implemented special mechanics such as the Agent Bans and Active Coach Slot, which have made this event unique. The communications throughout the tournament was done via Discord through our dedicated server for the VALORANT Invitational.

Broadcast Solutions

The tournament was, overall, from 30 September to 10 October, 2021. The Group Stages were from 30 September to 3 October, Last Chance Qualifiers on 4 October, and Playoffs from 7 October to 10 October. The format was double elimination, and ranged from Best-of-Ones to Best-of-Fives.

All games were streamed on Twitch with just below 70 hours of time streamed, over 280,000 live views, over 60,000 unique viewers and reached 4,513 max concurrent viewers.

Our team at KJC eSports did all the production including the observer(s), casters & commentators, and chat moderators. We also have implemented the Instant Replay and Match Highlights throughout the tournament. To see all the VODs, please click here.

Marketing & Promotion/Assets Production

Our media team (graphic designer and video editor) created assets for before (e.g. trailers and countdowns), during (e.g. match results, updated brackets, etc.), and after (e.g. highlights and giveaway winners) the tournament, including the overlays. Our content team has also made a Press Release for it, which eventually was covered by Esports Insider, GiveMeSport, ABS-CBN, VALO2AIA, Inquirer, Bandwagon, AFK Gaming and Gamelevate.

KJC eSports’ social media team has also promoted the tournament via our social media channels (mainly Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and Discord servers; our main servers and VALORANT-related servers used by many players & teams in the scene. KJC eSports was also given special roles in some Discord servers, which allowed us to promote the event.
