XERXIA Esports went home after they suffered a 2-1 defeat against NORTHEPTION  in their elimination match for Group B at the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen 2022.

Great Defense on Split

XERXIA put on a great defensive performance on Split as they took the first game of the series 13-9.

XERXIA got on the board only after they won the bonus round as they gave NORTHEPTION the first two. It was XERXIA’s herculean defensive showing that triumphed as the team took eight rounds for themselves in the first half. Thanamethk “Crws” Mahatthananuyut basically did almost everything to support his team from great utility usage to getting impactful frags every round.

In the second half, XERXIA initially had trouble when NORTHEPTION’s Kim “Meteor” Tae-O took control of the first four rounds. However, XERXIA just applied enough pressure to snuff out NORTHEPTION’s momentum to take the first game of the series.

Nightmare on Haven

Just like yesterday’s results, XERXIA continued to have a nightmare performance on Haven as they lost to the Japanese representatives 8-13.

XERXIA’s agent picks for this game quite surprised the panel as Itthirit “foxz” Ngamsaard opted to use Sova alongside Nutchaphon “sScary” Matarat’s Astra.

At the start of the opening pistol round, SScary was able to steal away the round from NORTHEPTION as he stuck to defuse the spike. However, XERXIA then went on an 8-round lose streak and only managed to snag four rounds in the first half.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go well when they switched sides as NORTHEPTION maintained the lead for most of the game. XERXIA tried to delay the inevitable with Foxz’s thrifty clutch ace on Round 18 and SScary’s 4K on Round 20. However, XERXIA didn’t figure out how to defeat NORTHEPTION on Haven in time and eventually lost the game.

Overtime Loss in Bind

With both teams just one loss away from elimination, it was regrettably XERXIA’s time to bow out of the tournament.

It was nothing short of a fantastic duel between both teams as the game was even for the most part. Interestingly enough, the final game of the series was also a mirror match as NORTHEPTION copied XERXIA’s agent composition for Bind (Chamber, Brimstone, Viper, Skye, and Raze). The game went to two overtimes wherein XERXIA sadly disintegrated on their final retake attempt against NORTHEPTION on the final round.

With this loss, XERXIA exits out of Masters Copenhagen which leaves Paper Rex the sole APAC representatives remaining in the tournament.
