Worlds 2022 Quarterfinals: Recap

The end of the Worlds 2022 is near, but more action is still to come. The Knockout Stage started on October 21st, and the Quarterfinals spanned until October 24th. With the Semifinals resuming tomorrow, October 30th, let’s take a recap of what transpired in the Quarterfinals of the biggest stage in the League of Legends Esports Scene.

JD Gaming vs. Rogue
The first match of the Quarterfinals was the battle of East versus West. Chinese representative JD Gaming versus American representative Rogue. JD Gaming was brimming with confidence and vigor, which showed in their match. Their mid-game dominance is unprecedented, and Rogue did not find an answer in three games. All three games ended in under 33 minutes, and all of them were in JD Gaming’s favor. JD Gaming swept Rogue 3-0 under the rug as they advanced to the Semifinals.
SKT T1 vs. Royal Never Give Up
The battle of Korea versus China, fan-favorites SKT T1, and Royal Never Give Up were the second match of the Quarterfinals. SKT T1’s popularity is not just for show, as they gained their popularity due to their skills and the legendary Faker. Royal Never Give Up put up a valiant effort in the first two games against SKT T1, with the matches ending at 38 minutes and 41 minutes, respectively. However, SKT T1 was done playing games and decided to show RNG what they are made of. SKT T1 completed the sweep 3-0, and they advanced to the Semifinals to face JD Gaming.
Gen.G Esports vs. DAMWON Gaming
The third match of the Quarterfinals was between two Korean Representatives, Gen.G Esports versus DAMWON Gaming. A bittersweet matchup between fellow representatives. The series started off with Gen.G taking an early 2-0 series lead, and it seemed that the end was near for DAMWON Gaming. However, DAMWON rallied and evened out the series 2-2 for an elimination match. Game five of the series was the longest so far, with 44 minutes of action. Gen.G Esports survived the long game and advanced to the Semifinals.
DRX vs. EDward Gaming
The final match of the Quarterfinals was between Korea and China once again, DRX versus EDward Gaming. EDward Gaming established their desire to win early in the series, securing a 2-0 series lead in the first two games. However, DRX had no plans of going home. DRX had their revenge against EDward Gaming and proceeded to finish the series with a gentleman’s sweep 3-2. A remarkable comeback to cap off the Quarterfinals. DRX advanced to the Semifinals and will face Gen.G Esports in the Semifinals.
