  • PublishedJuly 19, 2021

VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Indonesia Stage 3: Challengers 2 Open Qualifier started last Friday, June 16, 2021. It  has finally ended and the top five teams will return to play in the main stage with Boom Esports, Bigetron and Morph Impact to get another shot at taking a slot for the SEA Challengers Playoffs.

Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), who has been playing with their new roster, performed brilliantly in the Open Qualifiers. RRQ managed to beat Alter Ego in the Quarterfinals with a score of 2-1. Placing Alter Ego down to the lower bracket where they have to fight back to get the fifth slot towards the main event.

Mencari Tempat Berlabuh, who is now under the banner of NXLG Academy, managed to win back their slot to play in the main event after defeating teams Scaroo,  Earthquake, and ALTITUDE.

Team XcN, which this time around they had to play without Roseaufy so they brought in Ell, a player who previously played for VVV, and Xccurate, who is the sixth player and coach for XcN to play in several other maps. Given the roster changes in a reasonably limited time, XcN still seemed to play convincingly and managed to qualify for the main event once more.

Way Esports failed to play in the Playoffs last week, but now, they finally got their chance after defeating Cynical with a 2-1. Way Esports is a well-known team that was always getting into the top eight in the previous VCT stages.

Alter Ego, who had to fight in the Lower Brackets, paid off their defeat at the upper bracket by winning their matches against ALTITUDE and Cynical, without losing a single map as they  became the fifth team to qualify for next week’s main event.

With this, the Open Qualifiers for VCT Indonesia Stage 3: Challengers 2 has finished and the eight teams that will compete in the main event are Boom Esports, Bigetron, Morph Impact, Rex Regum Qeon, NXLG Academy, XcN, Way Esports, and Alter Ego.

We may see fierce matches in the Playoffs, which will start next Friday, July 30, 2021.
