Petaling Jaya, Malaysia – Just as the professional VALORANT scenes worldwide are getting spicier with the VALORANT Champions Tour entering Stage 3, a group of determined students from Malaysia is taking steps to ensure that they aren’t left behind.
The New NRML, an impressively growing esports organization, run by students from IACT College, has announced the creation of an all-female VALORANT tournament. The tournament seeks to bring top-tier female talent from Malaysia and Singapore to the forefront of competitive VALORANT.
As it stands, The New NRML’s Rise of Athena tournament is gearing up for an impressive lineup of teams that showcase how much talent is developing in both MY and SG, respectively. Eight teams have made it past the qualifiers and are headed to the main event.

The tournament’s main event will be played out on July 17th and 18th. Also participating in the playoffs is Underank Female. Avid fans of Malaysian esports will most definitely know this name. In addition to VALORANT, Underank also fields a competitive team in Arena of Valor. RealMe and IRL Asia also sponsor the organization – so it’s great to see org-backed teams joining in the festivities.
The most impressive detail about Rise of Athena is how skillfully the team at The New NRML has navigated the challenging landscape getting a tournament with this kind of production scale running smoothly and with notable sponsors to boot!
Predator Gaming and OFFGAMERS are the two big-name sponsors of this tournament. These brands’ involvement is a sure-fire sign of how healthy the VALORANT scene is in MY/SG and how much more potential the all-female competitive scene has!
Catch the playoffs of Rise of Athena on July 17-18 at 12:30 pm. All the action will be streamed live via The New NRML Facebook page.
