Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) have decided to make some drastic changes to their VALORANT roster by releasing Trixtan “Tr1x” Viray, Mikko “Hemsyxx” Gumapac, and Dustin Kurt “skadooskurt” Dollente from the team while acquiring new coaching staff with Paco “Vyminal” Santos and Jose Carlo “RBTX” Jamir as head coach and tactical coach respectively.
Back in January, Tr1x, Hemsyxx, and Skadooskurt were all part of RRQ’s debut of their all-Filipino VALORANT roster. However, the team had failed to qualify to be in the main stage of the VCT 2022: Philippines Stage 1 Challengers. As such, RRQ had mutually agreed to part ways with the aforementioned players.
“[The release of Tr1x, Hemsyxx, and Skadooskurt was] a mutual agreement between the management and players to part ways,” Lan “Kingmaker” Rigates, Head Esports Team Manager of RRQ, revealed.
Meanwhile, Kingmaker also revealed that he approached RBTX and Vyminal to coach RRQ’s VALORANT roster.
“I approached some of the veteran coaches here in the Philippines and RBTX was one of them but we didn’t come into an agreement. But after the VCT Stage 1 qualifiers, he saw the potential of the team and decided to finally join. Meanwhile, Vym is a close friend of mine, and we have worked with him from First Strike to VCT 2021 so I know he has a lot of knowledge when it comes to the game and is good at handling emotions that’s why I asked him if he wanted to join RRQ as head coach and he agreed.”
Vyminal’s recruitment came just after his former team, GrindSky Esports, released him along with the rest of their VALORANT roster back on February 16, 2022.
As of this moment, RRQ has yet to replace the missing spots on their roster.
“We are still looking for replacements at the moment but we already have some prospects to lock-in. We will make an announcement in the upcoming days or weeks when we finalized the roster,” Kingmaker stated.
With that said, there are rumors circulating that notable players are participating in their trials. However, those rumors are still unconfirmed and RRQ has yet to make an announcement.
