Paper Rex Sweeps Guild Esports To Start Playoff Journey (Masters Copenhagen 2022)

Paper Rex simply swept Guild Esports 2-0 to start their playoff journey in the upper bracket quarterfinals of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen 2022.

Paper Rex Dominates Ascent

Paper Rex dominated Ascent as they wrecked Guild 13-4.

Paper Rex simply was unstoppable throughout the entire game. Paper Rex commandingly took control of the game as they finished the first half with eight rounds in their bag. From there, Paper Rex vanquished any signs of hope from Guild as they didn’t allow any more rounds to be taken away from them.

Everyone on Paper Rex had a stellar performance on Ascent. For starters, Wang Jing “Jinggg” Jie played with absolute confidence yet again as he disrupted Guild with his signature Raze. Despite being recently diagnosed with COVID-19, Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto wrecked Guild with his accuracy on Chamber and nasty Judge plays. Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart played out of his mind with Astra — he even clutched Round 8 as he soloed Guild’s remaining players to win the round. Meanwhile, Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee suppressed Guild with his Odin while Benedict “Benkai” Tan’s Fade has his moments of brilliance (specifically a clutch retake that resulted in a 4K on the second pistol round of the game).

Overtime Win on Fracture

Paper Rex capped the series off with a nail-biting overtime win against Guild on Fracture.

For this game, Jinggg opted to pick Sage over Raze which frankly was a nice change of pace for the insane duelist. As for the rest of the team, they went with their usual picks on Fracture as F0rsakeN went with Neon, D4v41 with Chamber, Benkai on Breach, and Mindfreak on Viper.

Paper Rex started the game with style. In fact, they started so well that Benkai had the chance to flank Guild and sneak up on Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel to shank him in the back. However, the game’s momentum shifted quite frequently between both teams as Guild was able to recover and adapt to Paper Rex’s relentless assaults. In the second half, Paper Rex trailed behind Guild but was, fortunately, able to hold on and win via overtime 14-12.

With this win, Paper Rex moves up to face Fnatic in the upper bracket semifinals of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 2: Masters Copenhagen 2022.
