Gaimin Gladiators slew Griffin E-Sports via a 2-0 sweep at the VCT APAC Stage 2 Groups Opener.
The Gladiators Take Ascent
The Gladiators took the close game at Ascent 13-10.
Both teams seemed to be at par initially. The Gladiators lost the first two rounds of the first half before they found their groove to take the next three. From there, the game basically went back-and-forth which ended tie 6-6 in the first half.
The second half’s start was a bit scary for the Gladiators. They only won one out of the first five rounds of the second half. It was at the start of Round 18 that they decided enough is enough. From there, they never allowed Griffin to take any more rounds and thus secured the first game of their series.
Finishing Griffin at Haven
The Gladiators wasted no time as they quickly finished the series on Haven 13-6.
Similar to the first game, the teams seemed to be pretty equal yet again. The Gladiators lost the first two rounds and won the next three. They eventually got a bit of a lead this time around as they finished the first half 7-5.
Now unlike the first game, the Gladiators simply took care of Griffin in a pretty dominant fashion. The Gladiators punished Griffin’s hesitance to utilize the whole map as they wiped them out round after round. They only lost one round (at Round 15) but were able to quickly finish the game (and series) in just seven rounds in the second half.
With this win, Gaimin Gladiators moves up to the next round of Group A’s upper bracket. Meanwhile, Griffin E-Sports becomes the first team to fall into the elimination match of the lower bracket in Group A.
