North American DOTA 2 Team Evil Geniuses joined the plethora of teams announcing major roster decisions after The International 2022. Evil Geniuses announced on their official social media accounts the disbandment of their entire DOTA 2 roster. This announcement was made on November 16, 2022, in the midst of the post-TI roster shuffle. “It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially with a history as long as ours. Thank you @abedyusop, @Arteezy, @BuLbaDotA_, @Cr1tdota, @talflyaizik, and @Nightfall_dota for everything you’ve accomplished, from all of us at Evil Geniuses.”

Evil Geniuses was able to dominate the North American region for quite some time. Despite North America being an underwhelming competitor on The International stage, Evil Geniuses was the clear-cut best North American team in recent memory.
The DOTA 2 community was baffled and dismayed by the way Evil Geniuses announced the disbandment of the roster. TI11 winning coach, head coach of Tundra, Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling, was one of those who are disappointed by Evil Geniuses’ handling of the announcement. The TI11 winning coach stated “ No video, highlights, or fanfare for the goodbye of the best NA Dota team with 10 years of history. Sad :(. I guess expected after the sc2 and fgc players.” Many fans agree with his statement, the entire team deserved more than just a simple thank-you poster.

Evil Geniuses was able to make a statement in The International 2022 despite ultimately falling short in the playoffs. The squad was able to lock in the top spot in Group A at the Group Stages despite being in the same group with heavyweights: PSG.LGD, OG, Royal Never Give Up, and Team Liquid. The DOTA 2 community was shocked by their convincing performances on the Group Stages.
However, Evil Geniuses was disappointing, to say the least, in the playoffs. Despite having the top seed, Evil Geniuses lost to Thunder Awaken 0-2 in the first round of the Upper Bracket. Beastcoast ended their TI11 journey in the second round of the Lower Bracket 0-2. Evil Geniuses finished the playoffs with no win to their name. They placed 9th-12th at the end of The International 2022.
There are rumors swirling around the community that Evil Geniuses will move to South America. They are rumored to acquire former Thunder Awaken players to rebuild their roster. Thunder Awaken is a South American DOTA 2 team that had a strong showing in TI11.
