CD Projekt Red recorded its best quarter in history with the help of Cyberpunk 2077 sales. The Cyberpunk 2077 latest patch fixed almost all the bugs and glitches that made the game controversial. CD Projekt Red’s financial report for the 3rd quarter of the year made headlines. The massive video game company amassed its best record in history. The community went abuzz with this news and immediately put Cyberpunk 2077 in the limelight.

CD Projekt Red is a prominent video game company known for its blockbuster RPG series, The Witcher. However, due to the success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, fans were excited for their next game — Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk Glitches & Bugs

Cyberpunk 2077’s release was full of controversy. The game was unplayable because it had game-breaking bugs on the last-generation consoles. Many fans claimed that the game looked unfinished, and the ones who bought it asked for refunds en masse.

However, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally living up to expectations two years after its release. CD Projekt Red is optimistic that the record-breaking quarter they experienced this year is just a precursor to more success in years to come.

After two years of numerous patches and updates to polish the game and its performance across all platforms, Cyberpunk 2077 is picking up the slack with free DLCs. The developers are hell-bent on regaining the famous video game company’s credibility and the fan base’s trust.

The latest update on Cyberpunk 2077, the 1.6 Edgerunners’ update, was a massive patch that introduced multiple new features. The update featured the Transmog System (Wardrobe), three new gigs, six new firearms, and five new melee weapons.

You also get Nibbles in photo mode, cross-progression, Roach Race Arcade Game, and multiple edgerunners references found in-game. This update, and the past updates before this, pulled back the fans they lost when they first released.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Not Just Because of Updates

It wasn’t just because they were fixing the game that Cyberpunk 2077 turned things around. With the release of the hit anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners hit the screens through the Netflix streaming platforms last September 13, 2022. The anime series quickly gained traction with each episode touted as a top-rated show.

The anime was set in the same setting as Cyberpunk 2077, Night City. The story revolved around a street kid struggling to survive in a technology-obsessed city. The protagonist became an Edgerunner to survive, a mercenary outlaw — known as Cyberpunk. The anime’s popularity helped increase the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 even more as the game experienced a surge in sales since its release.

CD Projekt Red is releasing the first paid DLC of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2023. The DLC is named Phantom Liberty. No official release date as of now, but the DLC is planned to debut in 2023. This announcement received positive responses from fans while waiting for the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077.

The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in pre-production alongside a new installment in the Witcher series and a brand-new RPG series. CD Projekt Red is not finished in its quest to regain the trust of its fanbase. As long as they keep up their string of good decisions, this record-breaking quarter might just be the tip of the iceberg.
